Developer workflow Beta
Runner
Take a GitHub Project task through planning, implementation and review, with the work running on your own machine.
From an approved task to a reviewable change.
Runner connects a GitHub Project to your local checkout and AI command-line tools. It is useful when you want development tasks to have a clear scope, an implementation, and evidence someone can review together.
Start with trusted or maintainer-approved work. Runner coordinates planning, runs the implementation in an assigned worktree, and sends the candidate through agent review. The resulting pull request waits for a human decision by default.
Your tools, your operating environment.
The workflow uses your existing GitHub CLI login and configured AI tools. There is no hosted control plane, inbound server or required GitHub Actions workflow. Setup and operation belong to the person running it.
Runner can create Project fields and cards, branches, worktrees and pull requests. Agent permissions matter: host access can expose the files and credentials available to your operating-system account. Begin with the documented sandbox settings and automatic merge disabled.
This is public beta software. Agent review and passing checks still need human judgment about correctness and suitability. Read the repository’s setup and permission guidance before connecting a project.
