The Billy Plugin packages a local MCP server with an accounting workflow skill. It gives a compatible AI client tools for working with the Billy API, using API MCP as its underlying engine.
The current beta targets macOS on Apple Silicon. Its executable reads the Billy credential from the local credential store and calls Billy directly, without a hosted intermediary operated by this project. The AI client remains a separate part of the workflow.
Inspect first. Verify every result.
Begin with a non-production Billy account and the default read-only tool policy. Review the information returned against Billy itself. If a workflow needs a write, enable only the relevant tools; policy changes and create, update or delete requests require local native approval.
This beta does not establish bookkeeping correctness. Automated checks and an approval dialog cannot replace independently verifying each accounting result and change. Keep write tools disabled unless needed, and use the repository’s current setup and operating guidance.
