RockBot

Explore a robot conversation that can listen to Danish and English speech, decide when to respond, and let you interrupt its reply.

Conversation in a room.

RockBot is a local speech and robotics experiment for macOS. Microphone input passes through speech recognition, a response decision, local language models and speech synthesis before a reply reaches the speaker.

The experiment examines more than a single spoken question. It tries to distinguish speech addressed to RockBot from nearby conversation, follow an ongoing exchange, suppress its own speaker echo and stop a reply when new speech interrupts it.

Danish speech is transcribed and translated for the conversation pipeline; English input is supported too. A useful trial involves speaking, listening, correcting and observing whether the system responds at the right moment.
