A Minor Idea · Privacy
Your music. Your choices.
How A Minor Idea handles recordings, musical ideas, exports, optional instrument downloads and optional feedback, and how Apple’s TestFlight beta data differs.
Effective 6 October 2026.
Who is responsible
The data controller is techbase, a sole proprietorship operated by Dan Larsen, CVR 21663948, C/O Dan Larsen, Gråspurvevej 15, 3. 2, 2400 København NV, Denmark.
For app support and privacy requests, email support@techba.se.
Music stays on your device
A Minor Idea processes microphone recordings and audio files you choose to import. Recordings, detected and edited notes, musical timing, track settings, and processing preferences are stored on your device. The app has no account system and does not automatically upload this content to a developer-operated server.
No advertising or tracking SDK in the app
The app has no advertising or tracking SDK and does not run its own automatic analytics or diagnostic-upload service. Apple’s TestFlight platform separately collects beta information as explained below.
Apple TestFlight beta information
Apple independently collects and shares TestFlight crash reports, beta usage and installation information, device and operating-system details, app/build information and beta feedback you submit. TestFlight crash reports are shared automatically, regardless of the device’s normal diagnostic-sharing setting. This does not mean the app uploads your recordings or musical notes.
For testers joining through the public link, names and email addresses are not shown to the developer by default. If you submit feedback, its contents and any contact information you provide may identify you. See Apple’s TestFlight testing and privacy information and tester information reference.
Apple’s platform data is separate from the app’s optional transcription feedback report. The per-report consent, withdrawal and 12-month report-retention terms below apply to that app report and its accompanying email, not to all TestFlight data. Apple’s own TestFlight information explains its platform practices.
Optional instrument downloads
When the user presses Download in Instruments, the app requests the selected sound from https://amisounds.techba.se. The host receives the network IP address, request time and requested instrument path as part of serving the file. Downloads include no recordings, note data, idea names, feedback reports or persistent device identifiers. This is an optional file delivery service, without an account or tracking identifier. Completed sounds remain on the device and work offline. They are excluded from device backups and are removed when the app is deleted.
Request access logging is disabled on the file service and public proxy. Operational error logs may include request details. File-service logs rotate by size; the shared proxy's operational logs have no configured automatic rotation or time-based deletion. We do not promise a fixed deletion deadline for those operational logs.
Optional transcription feedback
For an open transcription, you can choose “Transcription not right? Send feedback”. The report contains your good/okay/not-good rating, optional source category, selected problem categories, app/build and operating-system versions, generic device family, processing settings, and aggregate or bucketed duration, tempo, confidence, note-count, and correction-count information.
It excludes recordings, imported audio, filenames, idea or track names, exact pitch sequences, ordered note timing, MIDI, free text, account identifiers, advertising identifiers, and persistent device identifiers. A random one-time Report ID lets a particular report be discussed or deleted.
The complete report is shown on your device. Nothing is sent until you consent to that report and choose Mail or another sharing destination. Declining has no effect on the main recording and editing features.
The report content is de-identified, but an emailed report is not anonymous: your email provider reveals the sender address to the recipient. If you send a report to support@techba.se, we use it only to understand transcription failures, evaluate product changes, and improve transcription. It is not sold, used for advertising, or combined into a user profile.
We rely on your per-report consent to use the report for transcription improvement (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing support@techba.se with the one-time Report ID. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Feedback retention and deletion
We delete the received report and its accompanying email, including the sender address, when no longer needed and no later than 12 months after receipt. To request earlier deletion, email support@techba.se and include the one-time Report ID. Dan manages deletion manually in the mailbox and any working copies; this is not an automated app deletion job.
Support and email providers
Our support inbox uses Google Workspace. The app sends no report to a feedback server or through Mailjet: you choose Mail or another sharing destination. Your chosen provider processes the message under its own privacy practices. Google Workspace’s processing may involve locations outside the EU/EEA; its data-processing terms describe subprocessors and applicable transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses. We do not claim a particular storage region or a specific provider backup or delivery-log deletion period. Contact us for information about the arrangements applicable to your request.
Ordinary support enquiries and replies are used to help you, based on our legitimate interest in answering support requests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We delete completed support conversations within 12 months after resolution, unless needed for a contract or legal obligation. A diagnostic report remains subject to its receipt-based deadline, even when quoted in a support conversation. We do not ask you to send private recordings to use support.
The website contact form is a separate alternative, delivered through Mailjet to info@techba.se. The website privacy policy explains that service and its separate correspondence retention; quoting a diagnostic report does not extend the report’s receipt-based deadline.
Your rights
You can ask us for access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal data and, where applicable, a portable copy. You can withdraw consent for feedback and object to support processing based on legitimate interests. Contact support@techba.se; a Report ID helps us locate a diagnostic report, and we may verify a request appropriately. These rights depend on the circumstances.
You can also complain to Datatilsynet, the Danish Data Protection Agency.
Music retention and deletion
Musical ideas remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app. Deleting an idea removes its app-managed recording, transcription, and edits. Device backups or exports you control may retain separate copies under the destination's practices.
Microphone and file access
Microphone access is used when you start recording or explicitly enable live pitch listening. File access uses Apple's document interfaces when you choose an import or export. You can change microphone permission in iOS Settings.
Sharing and exports
Exports and the app’s optional transcription reports are shared only when you choose to share them. The apps, mail providers, and storage destinations you select have their own privacy practices. Apple’s TestFlight diagnostics are separate, as described above.
Children
The app does not knowingly solicit feedback from children. Recording and editing do not require feedback sharing.
Changes and questions
If the app's data practices change, this policy and the App Store disclosures will be updated before that behavior is released.
